Application Within Civil Engineering

Sustainability Tools

The tools provide evidence that they are efficient when assessing developments. Therefore when considering new civil infrastructure it would be beneficial to use one of the tools. However, they are not applicable to a product or process and hence would not benefit in reducing carbon emissions within the process of producing cement.

The MACC Tool

The expert-based MAC curve or the Mckinsey MAC is the most well known and widely used of the MAC curves. Therefore it would be the most appropriate to use in civil engineering. With regards to the productions of cement, a MAC curve can be developed by experts that show the abatement potential of various measures within the process. This would help the policy makers in decision making for the most cost effective abatement measures.

How can we use these tools in Civil Engineering?

Conclusion

Is clear that the world needs more environmental control. Using these tools would benefit the surrounding environment and create a better quality of life.
